Haunting Table Guide

The Haunting Table is the official upgrade machine in Dig Haunted Items. The badge Use a Haunting Table! asks you to use the table and collect the upgraded item after. Tens of thousands of players have the badge, which means the table is not a secret endgame altar. It is a midgame tool you should touch as soon as you have a spare high-curse relic. This guide is when to press it, not a list of fake recipes.

You still need a clean piece. Spray first using how to clean. Then decide with curse and rarity.

How to run one upgrade

  1. Place or find the Haunting Table on your plot. If the tutorial did not drop one, check Shop or the plot build menu.
  2. Carry a clean relic you can afford to change. Never insert your only copy of an unlogged Index name.
  3. Interact until the haunt starts. Wait. Do not walk into the forest mid-channel.
  4. Collect the upgraded item when the table finishes. The badge specifically wants that collect step. Leaving the result on the table may not count.
  5. Display the result on the visitor path or sell it if the roll went sideways.

If the collect prompt is missing, rejoin a fresh public server. Stale instances after the September 3, 2026 update can desync plot objects.

What to insert

Yes

  • Duplicate Rare or Epic with a high curse tag.
  • A logged Common with unusually high curse if you can eat a miss.
  • Anything the relic tier list already marked A for income, not for Index.

No

  • Your only Forbidden.
  • An unlogged Common (log it first on the Index checklist).
  • Dirty relics.
  • D-tier junk you wanted to delete anyway. Selling is faster.

The table is a risk tool. The official pitch is higher curse, higher reward. A bad roll is the risk. Feeding it trash just to pop the badge is fine once. After the badge, stop feeding trash.

Badge vs strategy

Use a Haunting Table! is a one-time badge. You can earn it on a cheap duplicate. After that, every roll should have a reason. Players who spam the table on every Common are why their museums look noisy and pay nothing. Players who never touch it after the badge miss the income spike on cursed Epics.

If you are badge hunting, do this on a duplicate, collect, then go back to digging. Do not build a personality around the altar.

Timing versus luck codes

Luck codes buff the forest, not the table. During a timer you should be swinging a shovel, not standing at the plot. Haunt before you redeem, or after the timer ends. Mixing them feels busy and prints less.

Same rule for daily rewards: claim the chest, then haunt, then enter the forest. Do not interleave.

Plot placement

Put the table next to the cleaning pad so a freshly sprayed golem can walk three steps into a haunt. Putting it at the back of a decorative graveyard looks nice in screenshots and wastes time. Friends on a six-player server can watch. They cannot collect your upgrade. Online co-op does not share the output.

After the collect

  • If the result is unique, it goes on a front museum stand.
  • If the result is a slightly shinier duplicate, sell or park it on a side wall.
  • If the result feels worse, that was the risk. Do not immediately reroll the same piece unless you still have a duplicate behind it.

Spend the extra gold on shovel luck, not on a second table cosmetic. The upgrade planner still applies.

Scripts that “auto haunt” will insert the wrong relic. If you ignore everything else on script safety, ignore auto-table most of all. The badge wants you to collect a result, not to delete the Index.

Once you have the badge and one successful A-tier haunt, you understand the machine. Everything after that is discipline.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Why did I not get the Haunting Table badge?

You must collect the upgraded item after the roll, not just start the haunt. Rejoin if the collect prompt is missing.

Can I haunt a dirty relic?

No. Spray it first. See how to clean.

Should I haunt my only Forbidden?

No. Display it. Haunt duplicates and high-curse keepers ranked on curse and rarity.

Does a luck code improve table rolls?

Treat luck as a digging buff. Use it in the forest, then haunt after. Check codes.
