How to Clean Relics

Every relic you dig in Dig Haunted Items comes out filthy. The official loop says to return to base and spray away dirt and dark magic. Skip that step and the museum stays empty, the Haunting Table will not accept the piece, and your backpack turns into a mud museum nobody pays for. This guide is the sprayer half of the game. Digging stays on how to dig.

The key art even shows it: a bottle blasting mud off a crystal skull, and a second shot peeling clay off a cursed golem. That is not marketing fluff. That is the verb.

The spray

  1. Stand on your plot. Forest spraying is a waste of walk time if the bottle is weak.
  2. Equip the sprayer, not the shovel. Controls lists the swap.
  3. Aim at the dirty relic in the world or the highlighted inventory piece, depending on the current client.
  4. Hold the spray input until the mud breaks. Tapping once usually does nothing.
  5. Watch for the clean model. Crystal, stone, metal, and bone all count as clean when the dirt is gone.

The official Instant Clean gamepass (280 Robux) skips the hold. It is A-tier when a Forbidden or high-curse Epic is muddy behind a backlog. Catalog: gamepasses. Instant-clean codes would do the same job if one ever redeems. Until you want to spend Robux, sprayer speed is a real gold upgrade — see the upgrade planner.

Dirt vs dark magic

The description names two messes: dirt and dark magic. In practice you still use one bottle. Dirt is the brown clay on golems and skulls. Dark magic is the extra haze on high-curse pieces. High-curse relics can take longer to finish. That extra time is why you do not spray D-tier junk first while a Forbidden sits muddy in slot two. Clean S and A keepers from the relic tier list before you polish duplicate Commons.

Order of operations

  1. Dump the bag on the plot or keep it in inventory if the client cleans from the backpack.
  2. Spray anything unlogged. Index names beat rent for the first copy.
  3. Spray high-curse keepers so they can go to the table.
  4. Spray whatever you still want to display on the visitor path. See the museum guide.
  5. Leave logged Commons dirty only if you plan to sell them as junk and the sell UI accepts dirty. If it does not, spray once and sell.

Never sell-all while half the bag is still muddy. You cannot see curse tags through clay as well as you think. Curse and rarity only works on a piece you can actually read.

Upgrading the bottle

A slow starter sprayer is the silent time sink. After the first paid shovel, the next gold often belongs here. The upgrade planner will tell you if the next shovel breakpoint is closer. A fast bottle plus a weak shovel just polishes Commons. A strong shovel plus a weak bottle creates a backlog that auto clean scripts will then try to steal from you.

Buy speed, then capacity if the Shop sells a tank size. Ignore glowing bottle skins until the museum prints on its own.

Plot setup for cleaning

Leave a clear pad near spawn for dirty drops. If you scatter muddy golems through the visitor path, guests walk through your laundry. Put the Haunting Table next to the pad so a freshly cleaned cursed Epic does not need a tour of the graveyard. Friends on the six-player server can walk through your pad; they should not spray your relics. Online co-op does not share the bottle.

Mistakes

  • Spraying in the forest with the starter bottle while more sparkles sit five meters away. Dig first, spray at home.
  • Cleaning vanity duplicates before the unlogged Common.
  • Injecting a spray macro on the main account. Read script safety.
  • Assuming dirty relics can sit on stands. They cannot.

When cleaning feels done, you should have a short line of clean keepers, a sell pile of logged junk, and an empty pad. Then either haunt or display. That is the whole skill.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I display a dirty relic?

No. Spray it first. The museum and the Haunting Table both want a clean model.

Should I upgrade the sprayer?

Yes, after the first paid shovel if mud is backing up. See the upgrade planner.

Do instant-clean codes exist?

No confirmed shop code as of 7 September 2026. The official Instant Clean pass is on gamepasses. Gold bottle speed is the free path.

Can friends clean for me?

No. Online co-op does not share the sprayer. Each player cleans their own bag.
